You ask me to choose
You ask me to choose assaulted women
You ask me to choose murdered black children
You ask me to choose mutilated girls
You ask me to choose children seized from their families
You ask me to choose abused alcoholics
and their victims
You ask me to choose all of the horror of the world
In the end all I can do is choose everything
And at the same time choose none of it
Choose to live in joy amongst the darkness
Choose to live with open eyes
Choose to live with no illusions
Choose to cherish every moment
Choose to love and accept
Choose a better world
Know that poison is true,
but so is life.
